On the threshold of
stardom at 40?
Life begins at 40, so they say, and that could well be true for local singer Jackie Lee.
The popular Loughborough performer
reaches her milestone this month and could be on the threshold of sharing with the rest of the county and beyond, the talent that Loughborough already knew about.
Jackie has received rave reviews in "The Stage", the entertainment industry's bible, for her performance at their annual Showcall Concert at the Stardust Theatre in Bardon.
Not only did Jackie impress many of the performers at the event, she also impressed several of the agents from across the country who attended the show, and she's now hoping that some of them may follow up that interest.
Jackie is no stranger to performing on a bigger stage having supported legendary crooner Jess Conrad and other TV stars on the London stage.
And she's already hoping to finalise some exciting projects for 2005, including supporting a high
profile comedian at two major leicester venues, but that's still under wraps for the moment.
Many local people will know Jackie as the Landlady of the Royal Oak on Leicester Road but she has recently handed that task over to her father in order to concentrate on her other projects in life - her singing, being a driving instructor and vocal coach in the town, and her family, husband Lee Chamberlain and four children, the eldest of which, Sophie, is following in her mum's musical footsteps in the band ESP.
And while the big stage may be just around the corner, for christmas at least, Jackie is keeping things local to her Loughborough roots and will be performing at the Royal Oak on New Year's Eve, turning down offers from across the country as a result.
"I wanted to play New Year's Eve locally one last time," she said."Also, my daughters band are in town that night so it will be nice for us all to be together."

Watch this space: local singer Jackie Lee could be poised for big things in 2005. CNF
